STUDENT VISA

• Why? / Pourquoi?
  It allows you to work part time, actually you can work 20h p.w. with a student visa. Moreover, it may help when you're looking for accomodation, since in some places, people will ask you for it: it's a proof that you work, or at least that you can work, and it's also a proof that you're an international student, and in some places only international student are admitted.. / Il vous permet de travailler à mi-temps, en fait vous pourrez travailler 20h par semaine avec un visa étudiant. De plus, il peut vous aider dans votre recherche de logement, car certaines personnes vous demanderont si vous avez un visa étudiant: c'est une preuve que vous travaillez, ou tout du moins que vous pouvez travailler, et c'est également une preuve que vous êtes un étudiant international, et dans certains endroits, seuls ces étudiants sont admis..

• How? / Comment?
  You'll need several things to get it, and it takes time. Then, if, like me, you start preparing your trip 3days before, you may ask for a touristic visa, and then get the student visa directly here. That's what I did, then i can give you addresses over here, not in France or wherever.. So the first thing you'll need is the COE, or eCOE. It's the sheet that proves you're really studying in an Australian Uni. (or you will soon). You'll receive it when you will have been accepted in your Uni, and returned them the confirmation that you will study there, with the insurance payment (I had to pay 174$ for JCU). Then, according to when you asked for it, you'll receive your eCOE (email), or you can also go directly to your Uni. and they'll give it to you ;). Second step, you have to go to the Immigration office to apply for your student visa. They will explain you everything you need to know, give you the sheets and whatever they need.. for further information, go there: http://www.immi.gov.au/students/index.htm or there if you're not a student: http://www.immi.gov.au/immigration.htm   /
  Vous aurez besoin de plusieurs choses pour l'obtenir, et cela prend du temps. Ainsi, si, comme moi, vous préparez votre voyage 3jours avant, il vaut mieux d'abord obtenir un visa touristique, et ensuite obtenir le visa étudiant, directement ici. C'est ce que j'ai fait, donc je ne peux vous donner que les adresses sur Brisbane, et non en France ou autre part.. Donc la première chose dont vous aurez besoin c'est le COE, ou eCOE (Certificate of Education). C'est le papier qui prouve que vous etes réellement étudiant dans une université Australienne (ou le serez bientôt). Vous le recevrez lorsque vous aurez été accepté dans votre Uni, et leur aurez retourné votre confirmation avec les frais d'assurance (qui furent de 174$ pour JCU). Ensuite, selon la date à laquelle vous l'avez demandé, vous recevrez votre eCOE (par mail), ou vous pouvez tout aussi bien aller directement dans votre uni et ils vous le donneront ;). Deuxième étape, vous devez aller au Immigration Office pour postuler pour votre visa étudiant. Ils vous expliqueront tout ce dont vous aurez besoin de savoir, et vous donneront les formulaires et tout ce dont ils nécessitent.. pour de plus amples détails, vous pouvez consulter leur site à l'adresse suivante:

  Everything seems to be perfect, isn't it?...
  ...BUT it's not, and you may be awared of this: IT'S NOT FREE!! then, you may know that I paid 430$ just for the student visa, and as you have to take some medical tests (X-ray + ordinary medical tests), it will cost you 223$ in more! Then 653$ for the whole student visa! So be sure that you're really gonna work there, otherwise it doesn't worth it.. / Bon tout semble parfait, n'est il pas?...
  ... et bien pas entièrement, et je préfère vous avertir quant à ceci: CE N'EST PAS GRATUIT!! ainsi, sachez que j'ai du payer 430$ juste pour le visa étudiant, et comme vous devrez passer certains tests medicaux (X-ray + examen medical ordinaire), cela vous coutera 223$ de plus!! Ainsi 653$ pour le visa complet! Donc soyez certains que vous allez vraiment travailler ici, autrement cela ne vaut pas le coup..
